If you’re a business owner, chances are you’ve already considered using Social Media Marketing to help get the word out about your business. With the right social media plan in place, a small business can reach thousands of new followers, all who have a strong potential of turning into long-standing customers. No matter what you sell and who you sell it to, using social media as a marketing tool can help you grow your brand.

Here are 5 tips to help you grow your business with social media.

1. Get Social

Social Media gets the word out about your business. Today, more than half of all Americans are smartphone users and more and more businesses are offering mobile-friendly experiences. Your customers aren't running home after work to jump on the television anymore. Channel networks still exist but the new TV is Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat. These social channels provide you with the opportunity to grow relationships with your target audience. Your fans, followers, and connections are people who know your organization and have likely done business with you in the past or will be most likely to tell their friends about you.

2.Video

Video is taking over, not just YouTube but Instagram stories, Snapchat, etc. Why is visual content so good? It attracts more attention, increases number of visits, has a higher social share, and your messages are easier to remember. Video is important to tell your brand's story and it's an amazing opportunity for you to stand out.

3. Mobile Optimization

Check your website analytics, you'll see more and more people are visiting your site from their mobile phone. Having a social media presence that’s accessible via mobile can improve the chances of your business getting found when someone is searching for a place to eat or a product to buy, while on-the-go.

Let's check the stats:

-125 Million U.S. consumers own smartphones
-50 million U.S. Consumers own tablets
-62% of smartphone users have made a purchase online using their mobile device in the last 6 months
-80% of shoppers used a mobile phone inside of a physical store to either look up product reviews, compare prices or find alternative store locations
-An estimated 10 Billion Mobile Connected Devices are currently in use

You are going to have to optimize your site to be mobile first. We are moving in a direction where not everyone will need a laptop or desktop anymore. You have to plan for mobile first.

4. Content

Content is growing. There is so much content out there, you'll have to figure out a way to stand out. Right now posting once a week is not enough. You're going to have to bump up the daily content and find something everyday to say about your business. You can share your business story, your customers story, what makes you excited about your business, behind the scenes. Show us how you make that cappucino, show us how you make that pizza, how you organzize your work and turn those into videos for you to stand out.

5. Facebook Ads

Facebook has become one of the most used social platforms with 1.8 billion users. Whatever your business is you can target your market effectivley and put your ad right in front of them. Facebook ads allow you to target users by things like location, education level, industry and even purchase history and the pages they’ve liked. You even have the option to install a Facebook pixel on your site and use it to retarget the users who visit you.

Social Media has reshaped the marketing landscape and have really leveled the playing field for small businesses trying to better connect with current customers and reach new audiences for their business. We hope these 5 tips help you better understand how Social Media Marketing is important and how it can help grow your business.
